NBA 2026/27 seen from Sudan: title holders, key dates, night tip-offs
The NBA (National Basketball Association) is the world's leading professional basketball league. It has 30 clubs, all from the United States except the Toronto Raptors, the one Canadian side. They are grouped into two conferences, East and West, and each conference into three divisions of five. The regular season ranks every club inside its conference, the strongest go on to a knockout bracket in spring, and the title goes to the winner of the Finals.
The New York Knicks start the season as champions. They beat the San Antonio Spurs 4:1 in the 2026 Finals, closed out on 13 June, and brought the club its third title, the first in more than half a century. Jalen Brunson took the Bill Russell Trophy as Finals MVP with all 11 votes after averaging 32.6 points over the series, the first Knicks player to receive it since Willis Reed. New York had also beaten San Antonio in the previous NBA Cup final.
Eighty-two games, one fixed formula 🏀

Every club plays 82 regular-season games between Tuesday 20 October 2026 and Sunday 11 April 2027, and on that last Sunday all 30 are on court. The league shares out the opponents by the same formula every year:
Opponents | Clubs | Meetings with each | Games |
|---|---|---|---|
Division rivals | 4 | 4 | 16 |
Six conference clubs outside the division | 6 | 4 | 24 |
The other four conference clubs | 4 | 3 | 12 |
Clubs of the other conference | 15 | 2 | 30 |
The published calendar fixes all but two of them; the last pair comes from the NBA Cup, now in its fourth edition. From 30 October to 27 November the clubs play in six groups of five, three per conference, four group games each. The six group winners and the best runner-up from each conference reach the knockouts: quarter-finals on 4 and 5 December, semi-finals on 8 and 9 December, both in club arenas, then the final on Friday 11 December at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, the first Cup final held outside Las Vegas. Every Cup game except that final counts in the 82-game standings.
Dates that mark the calendar 📅
Training camps open on 29 September; after that the schedule passes a series of fixed points, several of them abroad:
Date | Event | Why it stands out |
|---|---|---|
3 October 2026 | Toronto – Miami, preseason | first NBA game ever played in Quebec |
20 October 2026 | Opening night | three games, the champions among them |
7 November 2026 | Denver – Indiana in Mexico City | third year running in the week of Día de Muertos |
25 December 2026 | Five Christmas games | Finals rematch, New York – San Antonio, at Madison Square Garden |
14 and 17 January 2027 | New Orleans – San Antonio in Paris, then Manchester | first regular-season game in Manchester |
19–21 February 2027 | All-Star weekend in Phoenix | the city's fourth time as host |
13–16 April 2027 | Play-in tournament | seeds 7 and 8 in each conference |
Places one to six in each conference go straight into the playoffs. For the other two, seventh hosts eighth and the winner becomes the seventh seed; ninth hosts tenth and the loser is out; the side beaten in the 7–8 game then hosts the winner of 9–10 for the eighth seed. The 16 teams left then play best-of-seven rounds through to the Finals in June 2027; exact playoff dates have not been published yet, and neither has the format of the All-Star Game on 21 February.
Night tip-offs from Sudan, results by morning 🌙
Sudan stays on UTC+2 all year, while the US East Coast runs six hours behind until 1 November, seven from then until 14 March, and six again in spring. A 19:00 ET start means one in the morning here in October and two through the winter; a 21:30 ET game begins at half past three, later half past four. On opening night only Boston – Detroit (15:00 ET) fits a Sudanese evening, at nine; Philadelphia – New York tips off at one and Oklahoma City – San Antonio at half past three, and both are decided by early morning.
The local weekend eases those hours. Games played on Thursday and Friday evenings in America run through the early hours of the Sudanese Friday and Saturday, and two headline dates fall wholly inside the weekend here: the Cup final on Friday 11 December and the Christmas programme on Friday 25 December. Each night's fixtures are listed under Basketball, next to the other leagues of the sport, and every game moves to basketball markets in play at the opening tip.
Most of that late-night following happens on Android phones, and the 1xBet mobile site opens the same NBA pages, pre-match and in play, on a small screen.
NBA markets at 1xBet
Each regular-season game has its own page in the pre-match line before tip-off. The basketball set covers the winner with overtime included, the points handicap, the match total, team totals and results by half and by quarter. Long-term markets on the champion and on each conference winner open before the first game and stay up through the winter. The league sits beside every other sport in the complete pre-match line.
Accounts in Sudan run in Sudanese pounds (SDG), funded by USDT on several networks, BTC, ETH and other coins, or cash.
The title table before 2026/27 🏆
No club has won more than the Boston Celtics: 18 titles, set against five lost Finals. The Los Angeles Lakers follow on 17, Golden State have seven, the Chicago Bulls six and San Antonio five. New York's third title puts them level with Philadelphia, Detroit and Miami, while Oklahoma City, Houston and Milwaukee have two each, one of Oklahoma City's pair won as the Seattle SuperSonics. Among players, Bill Russell holds the record with 11 championships, eight of them in a row, and Michael Jordan won six, all with Chicago. Houston go back this season to the "ketchup and mustard" colours of their title years.

Questions on the 2026/27 season
How did New York and San Antonio reach the 2026 Finals?
New York came through the East as the third seed, beating Atlanta 4:2 and then sweeping Philadelphia and Cleveland without dropping a game, the second of those in the conference finals. San Antonio, second in the West, got past Portland 4:1, Minnesota 4:2 and Oklahoma City 4:3. Brunson and Victor Wembanyama were named MVPs of the two conference finals.
Which NBA Cup groups are the two finalists in?
The Knicks open in East Group B alongside Cleveland, Philadelphia, Miami and Indiana. The Spurs are in West Group C with the Los Angeles Lakers, Portland, Golden State and Sacramento. The Lakers won the first edition of the Cup and Milwaukee the second.
How is a tie in an NBA Cup group broken?
Head-to-head results come first, then points difference, then total points scored. If two teams are still level after that, the previous season's record decides, and a random draw is the last step.
Who collected the main individual honours for 2025/26?
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of Oklahoma City was MVP for the second season running. Victor Wembanyama of San Antonio became the first unanimous Defensive Player of the Year and, at 22, the youngest ever to receive it. Cooper Flagg of Dallas was Rookie of the Year, Joe Mazzulla of Boston Coach of the Year, and Luka Dončić of the Lakers led the league in scoring.
Are there other themed dates in the regular season?
Martin Luther King Jr. Day on 18 January and Presidents' Day on 15 February carry four games each, and 26–30 January is set aside as a week of rivalry games. On 3 November, election day in the United States, the league plays no games at all.
